Darfur: What Can We Do?
Posted by admin under General |We watched Hotel Rwanda tonight for our Film & Spirituality event. It was our first time to go to a theater instead of watching a DVD, and it was definitely worth it, if for no other reason than to tell Hollywood that we need this type of movie.
This film brings us to the inevitable question: What are we going to do about Darfur? The situation is much the same as the situation in Rwanda 11 years ago, and the world must not stand idly by as it did last time.

My question is what can we do, really? I’ve been thinking abou this all weekend, and I’m still not sure how I can contribute. We can buy as many arm bands as we can hand out to people, but that costs money. I don’t know any influencial people that I can call to tell them to save the people in Darfur, as the people at the Mille Collines were able to do. But I do recognize that if we don’t do something, soon, we could have a “Hotel Darfur.” So many people have died already, but what can everyday individuals like me do, aside from buying arm bands and writing letters to politicians?
